Fixed fees look predictable on the surface. Underneath, the recoverability picture is often very different.

When invoices go out ahead of the work being done, WIP turns negative and recoverability becomes invisible. Time keeps accumulating against engagements that have already been invoiced and without visibility at the task, staff, and disbursement level, you won't see the problem until the job closes.
