Xero Practice Manager Client Settings: Tax Agent
Learn how tax agent settings affect client reporting and compliance workflows.
Background
There are some settings in XPM you need to get right. In this section we’ll be reviewing the essential settings to ensure your practice is set up to succeed.
To get started, go to ‘Business > Settings > Client Settings’ in your XPM.
Client settings
There is very little you need to add, edit or modify with your client settings as most of these are already set up correctly for you. There are some areas and definitions that it pays to be aware of, which are covered below.
Tax agent
This area will list the tax agents associated with your practice. We need a tax agent associated with our practice in order to file returns directly with the ATO/IRD or other relevant tax authority. Most practices will set up a single tax agent here and use this for filing all returns on behalf of their customers. Once this is set up, you shouldn't need to update it unless that agency changes.
Note that this area will only be present for certain regions around the world such as New Zealand and Australia.
